Ronald Reagan Quote of the day

October 27, 1964:

"Those who would trade our freedom for the soup kitchen of the welfare state have told us that they have a utopian solution of peace without victory. They call their policy "accommodation." And they say if we only avoid any direct confrontation with the enemy, he will forget his evil ways and learn to love us. All who oppose them are indicted as warmongers. They say we offer simple answers to complex problems. Well, perhaps there is a simple answer--not an easy answer--but simple".

"I kicked him in the balls"

Ted Mazetier, of Tacoma WA may be a grandfather, but at 84 years old, he's still got his chops.
And two men learned that the hard way.
Mazetier was driving down South Proctor Street Wednesday night when he spotted a car on the curb and two guys standing nearby. He thought they needed help, so he stopped.
But as soon as he pulled over, the two men pounced.
"The guy comes over to my car, and unfortunately my window was open, because he cold-cocked me. I mean, just sucker-punched me. Just bam!" Mazetier said.
The punch left quite a shiner on Mazetier.
But he wasn't about to take a beating sitting down.
Mazetier is a World War II veteran who also happened to spend his entire career watching over criminals imprisoned in the U.S. penal system. In short, he can handle trouble.
"When I opened the door, he started toward me and I kicked him in the balls," he said.
When the other man charged, Mazetier put his feet up and kicked him in the belly.
"He kind of bent a little and went down. And I went around the guy and I'm in the street, and I'm waving for cars to stop and, you know, help."
The two men fled, not having gotten whatever they were looking for.
Moments later, a passerby came to Mazetier's aid. That person had happened to get a glimpse of the fleeing men, and described them to police.
"And so the next thing I know, I was in the hospital and when the cops came in the hospital - the same ones that interviewed me - they said, 'We got 'em.' And I said, 'Thank God.'" Mazetier said.

Jesse Helms Quote of the Day

"Compromise, hell!…If freedom is right and tyranny is wrong, why should those who believe in freedom treat it as if it were a roll of bologna to be bartered a slice at a time?"

The Limbaugh Challenge

Take the Limbaugh Challenge
By Andrew Klavan

Excerpted here:
… The mainstream media (a.k.a. the Matrix) don't want you to listen to Limbaugh because they're afraid he'll wake you up and set you free of their worldview. You don't want to listen to him because you're afraid of the same thing.

C.S. Lewis Quote of the Day

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

Outrage of the day.

Charles Manson is still eating. And sure, it’s been going on for about 40 years longer that it should have, but seeing this recently released photo by Corcoran State Prison in California’s central valley, only serves as an ugly reminder that every day he wakes up in the morning and makes the selfish decision not to hang himself, my brother, along with every other Californian is paying for this 74 year old monster’s food, toothpaste, antiperspirant, and underwear! Worse than that, Californians even have to pay to clean out the poop stains from his underwear, because he is too lazy to wipe his own butthole thoroughly! This is outrageous!

Harmless Pranks

Boys have been doing it for more than 50 years...

From Life Magazine, February 17, 1958: "A punishment fitting the crime found three young boys in Seattle busy pumping up automobile tires. A patrolman and the father of one of the boys made them do it after they let the air out of tires on 40 cars and trucks. When the boys pumped 16 tires, the father rented a power pump."

Born on this day: Daniel Patrick Moynihan (3/16/1927 – 3/26/2003)

Back when there were one or two democrats in congress with half a brain between them, DPM stood out among them with almost ¾ of a brain. In the mid-1990s, Moynihan was one of the democrats to support the ban on the procedure known as partial-birth abortion. He said of the procedure: "I think this is just too close to infanticide. A child has been born and it has exited the uterus. What on Earth is this procedure?" Earlier in his career in the Senate, Moynihan had expressed his annoyance with the adamantly pro-choice interest groups petitioning him and others on the issue. He complained to them saying, "You women are ruining the Democratic Party with your insistence on abortion." Otherwise, a solid liberal on every other issue, we remember and thank DPM for his respect for life. Happy birthday.
